Air conditioning systems we install

Most homes need one of four set-ups. These are typical installed prices for supply and fit, and your written quote follows a free survey of the property.

Single split

£1,500 to £3,000

One bedroom, home office or living room.

One indoor unit with one outdoor unit.

Two-room multi-split

£2,800 to £4,500

Two rooms from a single outdoor unit.

Tidier than two separate systems.

Three to four room multi-split

£3,500 to £7,000

Bedrooms and living areas on one system.

One outdoor unit serves every room.

Ducted whole-home

£6,000 to £15,000

Cooling throughout, with hidden indoor units.

Best planned alongside building work.

Final price depends on capacity, pipework length, brand and any electrical work such as a dedicated circuit. Many of these systems also heat efficiently in winter, so ask about a combined cooling and heating set-up. Read our full air conditioning price guide.

Brands

Daikin, Samsung and Mitsubishi Electric

We recommend the model that suits your rooms, noise limits and budget, rather than pushing one brand. Brand choice alone can move a single-room price by a few hundred pounds.

DaikinQuiet, efficient wall and ducted units.
SamsungStylish wall units with smart controls.
Mitsubishi ElectricRenowned for reliability and performance.
Solar and air conditioning

Cool your home with your own sunshine

Air conditioning works hardest on the sunniest days, which is when solar panels generate the most. If you already have panels, a fixed split system can run largely on your own electricity during the day.

  • Solar offsets your daytime cooling costs
  • A battery carries stored solar into the evening, when many homes are still warm
  • Planning solar or a battery too? We size the electrics once, for everything

FAQs

Air conditioning questions answered

How much does air conditioning cost to install in the UK?

A single-room split system typically costs £1,500 to £3,000 installed, a two-room multi-split £2,800 to £4,500, a three to four room multi-split £3,500 to £7,000 and a ducted whole-home system £6,000 to £15,000. Your price depends on capacity, pipework length, brand and any electrical work.

Is the survey really free?

Yes. We visit free of charge, measure up and check your electrical supply, then send you a written quote covering the equipment, the installation and any electrical work.

How long does installation take?

A single split system is usually installed in about one day. Multi-split and ducted systems take longer, depending on the number of rooms and how the pipework is routed. We confirm the timescale in your quote.

Do I need an F-Gas certified installer?

Yes. In the UK the company that installs air conditioning must hold F-Gas company certification, and the engineers handling refrigerant need their own personal qualifications. Always ask to see them before you agree to any work.

Can solar panels run my air conditioning?

Yes, in effect. Panels power your home generally rather than connecting to the unit directly, so any solar you generate while the air conditioning runs reduces what you buy from the grid. A battery extends this into the evening.

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning?

In England, cooling-only air conditioning usually needs planning permission. Air conditioning that can also heat may be permitted development if it meets the limits and conditions, including the Microgeneration Certification Scheme planning standards. If your home is listed or in a conservation area you need consent either way. We check this at your free survey, and your local council makes the final decision.

Which air conditioning brand is best?

The best system is the one that is correctly sized and installed. We fit Daikin, Samsung and Mitsubishi Electric, and we recommend the model that suits your rooms, noise limits and budget.

Do you install air conditioning for businesses?

Yes. We can cool offices, shops and equipment rooms, and we handle the electrical supply as part of the same job. Read more about our commercial and server room cooling, or contact us for a free survey.
