“Will I need planning permission?” For most domestic installations in Sussex, no. Solar panels on residential properties are permitted development. The exceptions are listed buildings, certain conservation areas, and ground-mounted systems. If your property does require planning permission, we handle the application in-house. “What happens if I move house? Solar panels add value and are a strong selling point, particularly as energy costs remain high. Your installation comes with full MCS certification documentation, which is exactly what solicitors and surveyors need during a property sale. “What maintenance do solar panels need?” Very little. We fit bird protection netting as standard to every installation, which prevents the most common cause of damage. Panels are self-cleaning in rain, and we recommend a professional clean every two to three years. We offer a full aftercare and maintenance package for peace of mind. “Do you install battery storage on its own?” Yes — if you already have solar panels (including older feed-in tariff systems), we can retrofit battery storage to your existing installation, allowing you to start storing and using more of your own generation.The Straight Answer Is solar worth it in Sussex? Yes — and more so here than almost anywhere else in the UK. The combination of high local solar irradiance, rising energy costs, a 0% VAT rate on installations, Smart Export Guarantee payments, and the potential for ECO4 grant funding makes Sussex one of the most favourable places in the country to go solar in 2026.
