64kWp Ground Mount Solar PV Installation in Battle, East Sussex
This 64kWp ground mount solar PV system in Battle, East Sussex is one of the largest residential installations we have completed. It was designed for a rural home with substantial land and a high year-round electricity demand, where a roof-mounted array could never have delivered the output the property needed.
The system uses a large-format ground-mounted array positioned to capture the best year-round yield across the available land, paired with a substantial battery storage configuration housed in a dedicated outbuilding. The installation included full DNO notification, cable trenching across the site, and a bespoke mounting structure engineered for the terrain.
At 64kWp the system generates roughly 55,000 to 60,000 kWh of clean electricity a year, enough to cover the majority of the property's annual demand and cut running costs substantially. Surplus generation is exported to the grid under the Smart Export Guarantee, so nothing the battery cannot hold goes to waste.
Why a ground mount made sense here
Ground mount is the right answer whenever the roof cannot carry the system a property actually needs, whether that is down to orientation, shading, roof size or the age of the structure. On a rural plot like this one the land does the work instead, panels sit at the optimum angle rather than whatever pitch the roof happens to be, and future maintenance is all carried out at ground level.
Every part of this installation was designed, supplied and fitted by our own MCS accredited team, from the initial survey and DNO application through to commissioning and handover.
