This 22kWp, 50 panel solar PV installation in Billingshurst, West Sussex is one of the largest residential systems in our portfolio. It was built for a substantial property with high energy demand, combining high-output panels, three-phase inverter technology and FoxESS battery storage.

Perlight monocrystalline panels were specified across all 50 positions. At this size the design work matters as much as the hardware, so string configuration, shading analysis and panel layout across the available roof were all worked through by our in-house design team before anyone went on site.

Why three-phase matters at this size

The system runs on FoxESS H3 three-phase hybrid inverters, a significant step up from the single-phase units found in most domestic installations. Three-phase is essential at this scale. It spreads the electrical load evenly across all three phases of the property's supply and satisfies the grid connection requirements that apply to higher-output residential systems. The H3 also integrates directly with the FoxESS battery, managing the flow between generation, storage, the house and the grid without the homeowner having to think about it.

The full array was mounted on a pitched roof using a Fastensol system engineered to carry a 50 panel installation across the full 25-year lifespan of the panels.

At 22kWp the system generates roughly 18,700 kWh of clean electricity a year. That covers the vast majority of even a high-usage household's annual demand, with meaningful surplus going to storage and export through the summer months.

Planning a larger system?

Bigger arrays need proper design work, three-phase know-how and a DNO application handled correctly. We do all of it in house across Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
