11kWp Dual-Roof Solar PV Installation in South Croydon, Surrey
This 11kWp solar PV installation in South Croydon presented an interesting technical challenge. The property had both a flat roof section and a pitched roof, which meant two entirely different mounting solutions on one job to reach the system size and layout the household wanted.
Two mounting systems on one property
For the flat roof section we specified an Esdec flat roof mounting system, a lightweight ballasted solution that requires no roof penetrations at all. Nothing is drilled through the membrane, which protects the integrity of a flat roof while still tilting the panels to the correct angle for year-round generation in the South East.
The pitched section was fitted with a GSE inlay integration system. Rather than sitting on top of the tiles, GSE replaces the roof tiles directly beneath the panels, so the array sits flush within the roof plane. It is fully weathertight, integrates neatly with the existing roof profile and gives a considerably cleaner finish than standard on-roof mounting. For anyone who dislikes the look of panels standing proud of a roof, this is the answer.
The combined 11kWp system generates roughly 9,350 kWh of clean electricity a year, cutting the property's reliance on grid electricity substantially and providing long-term protection against rising energy costs.

Flat roof, or want panels flush in the roof?
Ballasted flat roof systems and GSE in-roof integration are both things we fit regularly. If your property is not a simple pitched roof, that is not a problem.
